The New Google Slap – Friday 8th June, 2007

This weekend, thousands of affiliate marketers logged into their Google Adwords accounts to find their ads inactive because the bid price had soared from a few cents to $5 or even $10. Yes, it was another ‘slap’ from Google. Within hours the forums were full of disgruntled affiliate marketers getting together to try to work out what they were being penalized for – because Google won’t tell. Evidence is still coming in but it seems that Google are again using bid prices to try to enforce what are technically just guidelines or advice, not rules.

  1. I’m thinking about local seo advertising but I’m in yet another country, does any person assist me with some options?

  2. You mean you’re promoting a site about Fort Lauderdale SEO services without being in the USA? That doesn’t matter. Just go ahead and do the SEO in the usual way. When you want to look at where your site is appearing for a US searcher, use a proxy server for your search or set up the advanced options in Google.

Without a Fort Lauderdale IP address you might never be able to see the search results exactly as somebody in Fort Lauderdale would see them. I guess you could get somebody who lives there via Craigslist …?
