How To Make Money From Giveaways

I have been contributing to giveaways for several years. Here are my tips for how to make money from them.
1. Offer a good gift – something that people will actually want.
2. Make sure that your gift is uploaded and the signup process works before the doors open. Most contributors will start promoting in the first few hours.
3. Have an upsell that people will see immediately when they sign up for your gift. You can have the upsell on the same page as the download link for the free gift. I find that a low priced upsell works best ($5 to $15).
4. Send them the link to the download/upsell page in an email, even if your autoresponder already sent them there. That way they have another chance to buy your upsell.
5. Follow up with more emails in your autoresponder, giving them either useful information or free bonus gifts.
6. Then you can begin to promote your main products (or affiliate products). Remember that the free gift should attract people who will be interested in your later promotions, so choose your free gift carefully.
7. Keep promoting the giveaway. If you don’t have a list, use free methods such as safelists and do something every day. This will increase your points so your gift is displayed higher on the list.

8. If the giveaway offers a contributor upgrade where you can buy your gift a higher slot, I recommend you take it. It pays.
Finally, keep watching what is happening. Is your free gift getting as many signups as others on the same page? Is your upsell converting? Are your subscribers staying on your list? There are a lot of things you can tweak.
