Google Cash Detective
Google Cash Detective is a new Adwords campaign tool for affiliate marketing coming soon from Chris Carpenter, the author of Google Cash, the hit PPC ebook of a few years back. It seems that it will be similar to The Rich Jerk‘s X-Ray Domination software but will take a further step in automating the process. Google Cash Detective is due out in early June and the hype (oops – I mean ‘prelaunch’) has started with a free promotional ebook titled Google Cash Strikes Back and a couple of demonstration videos.
The video on the landing page is not very informative (mostly pretty pictures of Chris’s sporty Mexican beach lifestyle) but you will learn more from two others inside the site which show you what Google Cash Detective will do. Briefly, it automates the process of analyzing PPC competition and knocking it out with your own better campaign. It is really quite ruthless and watching it in action is a little scary. I pity the owner of Dannys-scam-review.com and a few other sites, who must have had a nasty shock in the last few weeks.
Some will consider it unethical and the tactics are certainly not kind or nice but they are not illegal either and use of these programs will surely spread unless Google blocks access to the data. I do not think that is very likely. Google does try to restrict bot enquiries but the reason is surely just the stress that it puts on their servers, not moral objections. They never had to make the data available at all if they did not want to. Adwords advertisers are their customers, not their enemies, after all. I think once Google sees that these tools are popular with their advertisers and are not going away, they will adapt to them. Let me know if you agree . . .
I do think it is a real pity that it is becoming harder and harder for marketers to use PPC without such expensive tools. This is especially difficult for people from less prosperous countries with weak currencies who are also restricted on other options like article marketing if their English is not perfect. But this is the 4th and most sophisticated of these tools that I have seen advertised this year and the tide seems to be unstoppable.
If you are an Adwords advertiser who does not yet have one of these tools, you would be wise to look closely at Google Cash Detective when it comes out in June, or start to diversify your affiliate marketing business away from Google Adwords into Yahoo, MSN or non-PPC methods. Meanwhile, I would recommend the free ebook to any internet marketer as an interesting read, whether or not you use PPC advertising.
EDIT: June 10th, 2007
Well, Google Cash Detective has come and gone, and I did not part with my hard-earned dollars for it. Why? Well, mainly because right before it was released, I got my hands on a prelaunch version of AdSpyPro, which does almost exactly the same thing at a tiny fraction of the cost. I’ll be posting a full review of this very soon, but meanwhile you can check it out here: AdSpyPro

Well, dear,
I have no particular use for PPC – AdWords is not my cup of tea.
However, I do have a comment or two on the GCDetective.com site and its responsiveness.
I have submitted three (3) different email addresses through three (3) different affiliate links. Each time, I got a web page response that acknowledged my submission.
I have yet to receive any follow-up, any acknowledgement.
That, to me, does not garner any respect for the product, nor for the author(s) & promoter(s). If their systems are that lackadaisical, I’d have a hard time trusting any advice they might have to offer, y’know? Ruthless, they may be … conscientious they are not.
Make a good day …
